Surgical and Dental Procedures
Surgical and dental patients are usually admitted between 8 and 9 am on the day of their procedure. Because they will be undergoing anesthesia and need a completely empty stomach, we ask that their food and water be withheld after midnight prior to the scheduled procedure. Most cats can go home the afternoon of their surgery or dental work. We will call you after the procedure is completed to let you know how everything went. Or, you may call us between 2 and 3 pm to arrange a time to take your cat home. All anesthesia at City Kitty is administered using an inhaled gas (isoflurane).
There is always a surgical assistant monitoring your cat's vital signs. To ensure your cat's safety and well-being, we use an anesthetic monitoring device (pulse oximetry) and our operating room is specially designed as a sterile environment. In addition, each patient receives an individual sterile set-up.
